Values I Live By
When I was a child, many of my teachers emphasized the importance of pursuing dreams. However, it never occurred to me to truly understand what a "dream" is and how to pursue it until I reached my twenties.
Now, a dream for me is not an object to be seen and captured, and its meaning does not solely lie in achieving it. Rather, it resides in the continual pursuit itself. This is what gives my life purpose and motivates me to wake up each morning.
To be honest, I believe the term "dream" has been overused to the point of losing much of its significance. To grasp this, one can imagine themselves as a child learning a new word and its real-life associations. For me, a dream is the inspiration that drives personal growth, the belief that I have a mission to fulfill in the world, and the force that propels me beyond the limitations of reality.
One might wonder, "But what is your dream?"
I must admit, I don't think I have a single word to depict a specific dream I yearn for. Instead, I have a set of values that, when combined, paint a picture of what my dream would be.
For instance, learning is one of the pillars I align myself with. Whatever I engage in, learning must be an integral part of it. As long as I am consistently gaining meaningful knowledge, I feel that I am actively pursuing my dream.
One way I infuse meaning into everything around me is by embracing the aspect of learning.
Embarking on a new responsibility?
Entering into a new relationship?
Enrolling in a new class?
Confronting a new challenge?
Learning can always be present; I simply need to adjust my perspective on the things surrounding me!
